University Diary #2

Posted on March 29, 2026 by admin

I Thought Love Was Enough”

I chased her for one year and a half.

Not small time. Not play. Real chasing. Real effort. I knew her from school, saw her almost every day, tried everything to get her attention. Slowly, she started noticing me. Slowly, we started talking.

And before I knew it… we were dating.

I wasn’t rich.

Let me not lie—I was broke. Just a student trying to survive. No car, no big money, no flashy lifestyle. All I had was my mouth… and my heart.

I was what people call a “lover boy.”

I talked sweet. I comforted her. I listened to her problems. I made her feel safe. I promised her a better future. I gave her my time, my attention, my energy.

I treated her like something fragile.

Like an egg.

I believed in her.

I trusted her.

I thought what we had was real.

Then one day… everything scattered.

I heard something I wasn’t supposed to hear.

At first, I didn’t believe it. I thought it was just rumors, you know how school gossip is. But the more I listened, the more it started making sense.

Another guy had invited her out.

A simple pizza date.

Nothing serious, right?

That’s what I told myself.

But it didn’t end there.

After the pizza…

He took her to his room.

Off campus.

That was when it hit me.

Hard.

The worst part?

The guy was in 100 level.

100 level.

And me?

Final year.

I just sat down that day and laughed.

Not because it was funny… but because I didn’t even know what else to do.

How do you process something like that?

You spend over a year chasing someone. You finally get her. You invest your time, your emotions, your energy. You treat her right. You respect her. You believe in her.

And then…

A random guy with probably just small money and confidence takes her out once… and that’s it.

It broke something inside me.

Not just my heart.

My ego too.

Because I started asking myself questions.

Was I not enough?

Was all my effort useless?

Was I just there to pass time?

I realized something painful that day.

Talking is not enough.

Promises are not enough.

Being a “good guy” is not always enough.

In school, things are different.

Some people are not looking for future.

They are living in the moment.

While I was busy promising her tomorrow…

Someone else was giving her today.

That’s what hurt the most.

I didn’t confront her immediately.

I just watched. I observed. I connected everything.

And the truth became clear.

I was loving her seriously.

She was just enjoying me.

And that realization…

It’s painful.

I walked away. Quietly.

No shouting. No drama.

Because what was I going to say?

That I loved her more?

That I deserved better?

In that moment, I understood something:

You can’t force someone to value you.

You can’t love someone into loyalty.

Now I look back and laugh sometimes.

Not because it didn’t hurt…

But because I learned.

I learned that not everyone you invest in is investing in you.

I learned that love without respect is just stress.

And I learned that sometimes…

You can treat someone like an egg…

And they will still choose someone else to fry them.

That day changed me.

I’m still me…

But I’m not that same “lover boy” anymore.
